Money folders
The money folders were imported through CARE which started functioning in Iqbal Town in Lahore Pakistan in 1988. The premises in Iqbal Town are known as CARE I. Iqbal Town, situated over 15km on the Lahore/Sheikhupura Road, was one of the many peripheral urban settlements around Lahore with no roads, sewerage system, schools or dispensaries. CARE initiated a school, an industrial home and a dispensary complex in Iqbal Town in 1990. Aside from the CARE I, CARE has also premises known as CARE II.
CARE I and CARE II have industrial homes on their premises. These homes provide income generation opportunities to women of the area. Under CARE's guidance, the women are taught embroidery and sewing. They are now producing high quality traditional handicrafts, including the money folders for sale on this Web site that are being marketed locally and abroad. CARE ensures that these enterprising women are paid a fair wage for their labor. Currently about 400 women work in the industrial home in Iqbal Town. It is CARE's endeavor to help more and more women help themselves through this enterprise development project.
